Website Design for Nonprofits

Your Website Is Your Nonprofit’s Digital Home. Make It Inviting.

Professionally-designed websites build trust and credibility with audiences. As your brand’s digital home, it’s where audiences come to learn about your mission, discover what’s new, and direct their support.

Thoughtful, Easy to Use Websites

Our team of expert strategists, copywriters, and designers will design, build, and launch a beautiful new user-friendly website on Squarespace, one of the leading, most easy-to-use Website CMS services available. Once the site is live, we’ll also provide your staff with training so you’re empowered to update it as needed.

Our Process

  • We’ll begin by meeting with stakeholders to lay a strategic foundation for your new website. We’ll use the insights gathered in this discussion to develop a detailed project brief, sitemap, and wire frames which we will submit for your approval.

  • In this phase, we’ll develop your new website’s look and feel, creating new content and curating existing content along with any necessary copywriting, design, and photo selection. Once it’s ready, we’ll deliver web page mockups for you to review and provide feedback.

  • Once you’ve approved the design direction, we’ll build out your website according to the approved sitemap on Squarespace. Afterwards, we’ll connect it to Google Analytics and submit it to Google Search Console for improved indexing.

  • Before your site is launched, we will perform a final proofread, test, and review. And once your site is live, we will schedule a training with your team on how to use the CMS.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your project’s timeline will depend on the scale and scope of the redesign, including the number of site pages and specific integrations your site requires. Although, typically, these projects range between 10-16 weeks.

  • While we do not offer web development as a standalone service, we do have a team of web development experts we partner with for specific projects.

  • Photography needs vary from project to project depending on the site requirements and the availability of custom photography. When it is necessary to use stock imagery, we make every effort to source high-quality images that do not “feel” like stock, and these typically require a licensing fee. We will, however, consult with you on any unexpected costs prior to purchasing. If you prefer custom photography, we can also help coordinate any necessary photoshoots with our trusted partners.

  • We will test, review, and proofread your site thoroughly prior to launch. Afterwards, we will provide any necessary training for your staff. If you require additional support, we are happy to help with miscellaneous tasks at our hourly rate or as part of a retainer package.

  • We work with nonprofits, educational institutions, social enterprises, and other mission-driven organizations ranging in size and staffing structure. Our clients have revenues ranging from under $1m to over $100m per year. All projects, including messaging, require a designated point of contact from your organization to review and approve our work.

  • Green Gate is a brand and marketing agency that works with nonprofits and is known for incorporating insightful strategy with award-winning design and storytelling. In addition to brand development services, we offer strategy consultations, messaging and content strategy, fundraising campaigns, and website redesign. • As a brand development agency, we believe the most important factor in nonprofits’ long-term success is trust. This is important for consumer brands as well; but unlike consumer brands, the value nonprofits provide isn’t based on a specific product or transaction. Instead, it’s based entirely on trust.

Our services are designed to cultivate trust by building and supporting authentic nonprofit brands. Authenticity occurs when your values, appearance, words, and actions are all in alignment. Our services are designed to build that alignment one piece at a time.

For that reason, we typically recommend nonprofits begin with their brand identity—that is, who they are both visibly and intrinsically. From there, we move on to what they say (messaging), and, finally, to public-facing assets and marketing (such as a website, campaigns, and ongoing communications).

There is no set track or prerequisite for most of our services—we’re happy to work with whatever foundation you have in place. But for organizations that haven’t had the opportunity to address these fundamentals—or for those in the midst of a significant change—we recommend beginning with the foundation, as this will ensure a greater return on every investment you make in the future.
